– Not just learning or knowing but doing what God says –

Wisdom is not just about collecting a lot of knowledge.  Wisdom is not about being very intelligent.  It is not about how much you know – it is about doing the wise things God has shown you.  If you know about all sorts of things and have the best grades but don’t obey God, then you are not a wise person.  God says that if you do not do the good things you have learned then you are actually being foolish.

James 1:22-25 (TLB) says, “And remember, it is a message to obey, not just to listen to. So don’t fool yourselves. 23 For if a person just listens and doesn’t obey, he is like a man looking at his face in a mirror; 24 as soon as he walks away, he can’t see himself anymore or remember what he looks like. 25 But if anyone keeps looking steadily into God’s law for free men, he will not only remember it but he will do what it says, and God will greatly bless him in everything he does.”

God’s wisdom is not always easy to do but His wisdom is usually simple.  For example, you know that you should forgive.  It is simple to understand what God is asking but it can be difficult to actually do it.  But if you choose to be a person who learns what God says and does those things no matter how hard it is, you will see God’s blessing in your life in so many ways.

“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me–put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. – Philippians 4:9 (NIV)
