The theme for the month of January is Self Disipline:

– Choosing to do what is right, especially when you don’t feel like it –

Doing what is right is not always easy.  Many times the right thing is difficult and it may even feel impossible to do what is right.  Anyone can get better at self-control but God is the one who gives the ability to grow.  When you disobey or do whatever you want even when you know it isn’t right, you are trying to make yourself happy because you are not trusting that God will give you everything you need.  The Bible says that if you trust God that He will take care of you and give you everything you need.

God also wants to give you the true desires of your heart.  It doesn’t always happen in the way we think or in the time we want (right now) but God wants the very best for you and will show you as you follow Him.  The next time you want to do something that isn’t right, ask God to help you develop self-discipline and to trust Him to give you what you really want and need in His timing.

God’s Spirit doesn’t make cowards out of us. The Spirit gives us power, love, and self-control. – 2 Timothy 1:7 (CEV)
